This is Week 2 of our new series: Jesus in Every Book of the Bible. Last week we explored Jesus in the book of Genesis. This week, our focus shifts to Exodus.
Various types in Exodus (such as Moses, unleavened bread, and pillars of cloud and fire) provide parallels and foreshadowing of Jesus' life, ministry, and redemptive work in the New Testament. They illustrate Jesus as the deliverer, sacrificial Lamb, provider of spiritual nourishment, guide and protector, mediator, and embodiment of God's presence and grace. Understanding these types enhances our understanding and appreciation of Jesus' role in bringing salvation and redemption to humanity.
Scriptures referenced include Exodus 12:1-13; Exodus 13:21-22; Exodus 17:6; Exodus 25:8; Exodus 25:17-22; John 1:14; John 4:14; Hebrews 4:14-16; Hebrews 9:11-14; and 1 Corinthians 10:4.
