Today’s episode is Part 5 of “Making Waves,” a special musical theater edition of 1010 Thrive.
As the floodwaters continued to cover the earth, Noah and his family remained inside the ark for 150 days, waiting for God’s promise of deliverance to be fulfilled. Outside, everything that had breathed the breath of life perished—mankind, livestock, and birds alike—blotted out by the raging waters of judgment. The once-mighty mountains lay hidden beneath the depths, and the earth was utterly transformed. Yet within the ark, life was preserved, floating above the chaos, a testament to God's mercy and faithfulness. Despite their security, the journey was long and difficult, testing their endurance, patience, and trust in God's plan.
Inside the ark, daily life was filled with both routine and frustration. The family worked tirelessly to feed and care for the animals, managing restless creatures and dwindling supplies. The humor and weariness of their situation came to life in the song "Another Day on the Water," where they expressed both gratitude and exhaustion at their ongoing task. Ham, growing restless, questioned whether they would ever leave the ark, voicing concerns about their future. Noah, though equally uncertain of when the ordeal would end, reminded his family of God's promise to preserve them. He remained steadfast in faith, reassuring them that, in time, the waters would recede, and God would reveal the next steps for them.
As the rain ceased and the waters began to settle, Noah devised a way to determine when they could leave the ark. He planned to send out a raven and a dove—if they returned, it would mean there was still no dry land; but if they did not, it would be a sign that the time of waiting was drawing to a close. This hopeful expectation was captured in the hymn-like melody "In His Time," a song of trust and perseverance, reminding them that God's timing is perfect even when the future remains unclear. Though they could not yet see the new world that awaited them, they clung to the certainty that the same God who brought them through the flood would guide them into the promise of renewal.
