Show Notes

The story of Joseph begins with a happy household in the valley of Hebron, but Joseph's special treatment from his father leads to jealousy and resentment from his brothers. Joseph has a dream in which he sees himself as a powerful ruler, but his brothers scoff at his grandiose ideas. One day, when Joseph goes to check on his brothers, they strip him of his coat of many colors and throw him into a cistern. They sell him into slavery and Joseph is taken to Egypt where he is sold to Potiphar. After being falsely accused of a crime, he is thrown into prison, where he interprets the dreams of two of Pharaoh's officials. He is then brought before Pharaoh and interprets his dream, suggesting a plan to prepare for an upcoming famine. Pharaoh appoints Joseph as overseer of all of Egypt, and Joseph works tirelessly to implement his plan to store grain. During the famine, Joseph's brothers come to Egypt to buy grain, and Joseph forgives them for their betrayal. Joseph invites his entire family, including his father Jacob, to live in Egypt.

We explore ten parallels between the life and character of Joseph and that of Jesus. The story of Joseph helps us understand  the significance of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Scriptures referenced include Genesis 1:37-50.
