The death of Jezebel, the infamous queen of Israel, occurred during the reign of Jehu, who had been anointed by God to execute judgment on the house of Ahab. When Jehu arrived in Jezreel, Jezebel, aware of his intentions, adorned herself and stood at a window, taunting Jehu. In response, Jehu called for her servants to throw her down from the window. Jezebel's eunuchs obeyed, and she fell to her death. Jehu then entered the palace, and while he partook in a meal, he ordered that Jezebel's body be given a proper burial. However, when the men went to bury her, they discovered that only her skull, feet, and hands remained. This was in fulfillment of the prophetic word spoken by Elijah, foretelling that dogs would devour Jezebel's flesh in the territory of Jezreel. Thus, Jezebel's death marked the end of her oppressive and idolatrous reign, serving as a demonstration of God's judgment on her wickedness.
