Today’s episode is Part 6 of “Making Waves,” a special musical theater edition of 1010 Thrive.
After nearly a year aboard the ark, Noah and his family longed for solid ground, but the waters still covered the earth. The wait tested their patience and faith, yet they held onto God’s promise. As Noah wrestled with uncertainty, he sent out a raven to search for dry land, but it did not return with a sign. Realizing they needed further confirmation, Noah then released a dove, but it found no place to rest and returned. This set off a period of waiting, marked by hopeful expectation and the need for continued trust in God's timing. Through their prayers and songs, Noah’s family sought strength as they endured the unknown, clinging to the promise of renewal.
After another seven days, Noah sent the dove again, and this time, it returned with a freshly plucked olive leaf. The ark erupted in joy as they recognized this as the first tangible sign that the floodwaters were receding and that life was beginning anew. The olive leaf symbolized peace, restoration, and God’s faithfulness—a sign that the judgment had passed and that a new beginning awaited them. Despite the relief, Noah chose to wait yet another seven days for final confirmation, demonstrating his continued dependence on God’s guidance rather than acting impulsively. When the dove was finally released and did not return, they knew: the earth was ready to welcome them home.
With anticipation and gratitude, Noah and his family prepared to step onto dry land. The ark had served its purpose—protecting them through the storm—but now, a new chapter was beginning. Their journey had been one of faith, endurance, and learning to trust in God’s perfect timing. As the waters fully receded and the land called them home, they embraced the responsibility of rebuilding the world, guided by the lessons of the flood. Their story reminds us that even in long seasons of waiting, God is faithful, and His promises will always come to pass in His perfect time.
