The apostle John writes in the Gospel of John 20:30-31: “Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
John admits that his account of the ministry of Christ is incomplete. He couldn’t possibly record in writing all that Jesus said and did. But his purpose is not to write a comprehensive biography. He intends to share enough about Jesus that his readers will believe. And those who believe in the Lord will be saved.
