Today we air a special episode of 1010 Thrive – the third in a five-part series about a man who remembered to give thanks. Ephraim, a Samaritan from the city of Sychar, is forced to leave his hometown when he is diagnosed with leprosy. In today’s episode he shares what he has learned about a rabbi from Nazareth called Jesus. He also discovers that this man who is known as a miracle worker and healer will be coming to a town near to his camp.   In this five-part series, we learn that God values the least. He honors faith. He is a modest stone mason. However, not long after his young wife gives birth to their first  child he discovers an ulcer on the bottom of his foot. Today, we replay Episode 191, from July 2021, “The Worshiper,” part of our series “50 Books in 50 Weeks.”   Joel is the 2nd book of the Minor Prophets. Little is known about the man after whom this is named. His name combines the covenant name of God, Yahweh, and the generic name for God, El. It has been translated as “one to whom Yahweh is God.” Otherwise, we can interpret his name to mean “a worshiper of Yahweh.” Joel shows that he is a true worshiper by being responsive to the word of the Lord. He calls the people to repentance.
