Show Notes

Today is Part 2 of our special two-part episode.

Jealous of Daniel's favor with the king, other officials conspire to find grounds for his condemnation. Recognizing Daniel's unassailable integrity, they deduce that only by making his religious practices illegal can they ensnare him. They persuade Darius to enact a law that for thirty days, no one can pray to any god or man except to the king. Violation of this law would result in being thrown into a den of lions.

Daniel, aware of the edict, continues his practice of praying to God three times a day. His adversaries catch him in the act and bring him before Darius, who, bound by his own decree yet distressed over Daniel's fate, is forced to order Daniel's punishment. Despite his reluctance, Darius hopes for Daniel's divine deliverance.

After a night in the lion's den, Darius rushes to find Daniel unharmed, protected by God who sent an angel to shut the lions' mouths. Overjoyed, Darius orders Daniel's release and instead punishes the conspirators by casting them and their families into the lion's den, where they are immediately killed. The chapter concludes with Darius issuing a new decree that all people must fear and reverence Daniel's God, acknowledging His power and the miracles He performs. The story reaffirms God's sovereignty, His ability to save, and the rewards of steadfast faith.
