Show Notes

Those who would be a part of the body of Christ and count themselves as believers have been called to be peculiar. There was a time when such a designation was proudly embraced and enthusiastically proclaimed. But just as that word has fallen out of favor and is dismissed by many as “old fashioned,” so too are many of the implications of being so named. The potency of our mission, the effectiveness of our witness, the appeal of our lifestyle and the import of our institutions have all been diminished by the fact that many of us have forgotten just how peculiar we are meant to be.

Scriptures referenced include 1 Peter 2:9; Exodus 19:5; Exodus 6:6; Exodus 15:1-21; Deuteronomy 14:2; Deuteronomy 7:6; Deuteronomy 26:18-19; Genesis 15:18-21; Genesis 17:2-21; Genesis 26:3-4; Genesis 28:13-15; Psalm 135:4; Ecclesiastes 2:8; and Titus 2:14.
