The Revelation of Jesus Christ was given to John by God “to show his servants what must soon take place.” (Revelation 1:1). This book is filled with mysteries about things to come. It is the final warning that the world will surely end and judgment will be certain. Jesus is the central figure in this book and we understand more about what He is doing now (on our behalf) by reading it. The book is composed of symbols, which we must understand by finding their interpretation in the Bible, mostly in the Old Testament. As with other Biblical prophecies, the primary purpose of Revelation is to assure us that no matter what the future brings, God is in control.
