There are two New Testament books, both letters from the apostle Paul, written to Timothy, a man who is the son of a Greek father and a Jewish mother. He joins Paul during one of the apostle’s later missionary journeys. In 1 Timothy 1:2, Paul addresses him as “my true son in the faith.” Recognizing his potential at a young age, Paul mentors Timothy and makes him a part of his ministry team. He represents the apostle in many church visits and ends up being appointed the pastor of the church in Ephesus.
