Joel 2:1, “Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand.” Joel tells the people of Judah that a natural disaster (a plague of locusts and a drought) is meant to be a wake up call for them; it ought to motivate them to repent. There is a more consequential Day of the Lord coming. How will be receive it? With joy? Or with dread?
